The sabbatical is over

18.6 mile bike (1:17) I think someone filled my shoes with cement.
My heart said, "ride like the wind Bullseye"!
My legs said, "nope, not gonna happen".
Obligatory morning shot.
Aka- a reason to stop
I can tell JoDee digs a stop break by the way her back is turned to me and her mumbling "yeah it's pretty, get the freaking shot already", under her breath.  I'm so fun to ride with.
The last 15 minutes or so of the ride my head was killing me.
I wonder why?  Ya, gotta keep that helmet on to protect your main membrane and sexy hair but there is no need take it to extremes.  Geesh.
I hate it when my brain grows over night.
That mark finally went away.
About lunch time.
Hey, what's that?  A race number?  The 3 month sabbatical is over.
I'm ready to race, Sunday.
Well, not really "race" per say but I'm ready to join the masses and have some fun.
I need something to get the blood pumping fast again.  I am kinda faltering in the motivation department.  I'm hoping that getting a few races under me belt will help me get excited about racing again.
I'm doing an 8k trail run.  I have never done a trail run but I don't think this is a very technical or difficult course.  I am familiar with the area and I think it'll be a fairly good dirt trail that maybe crosses a few dry washes.  I should fine.
I love the Lost Dutchman races, that whole area is so beautiful.  I thought the trail run sounded fun and a nice change of pace.
Get off the pavement and out into the dessert.  I think it will be a good time.
I picked up my race packet today and this flyer was in it.  Crazy Horse is about 5 miles out of my home town!
I thought it was so neat to see a little bit of home in my bag.
There are two races back home I hope to do someday.  Seeing a flyer for them kinda lights that fire.  I think it is a sign, don't you?  I might have to make this happen sooner rather than later.
Speaking of home.  When I was a kid I thought that sandwiches that were cut on a diagonal tasted better.  Actually I still think that.
They are just fancier that way and fancy tastes good.
So how do you cut a sandwich?  Fancy pants like me or a straight shooter?

  1. Good luck at your race tomorrow! Running a race, even if you're not trying to run quickly, is so fun with all of the excitement and camaraderie with other runners. I agree that sandwiches are best cut diagonally. :)

  2. You should totally run the Mickelson Trail Marathon or Half. I ran it a couple of years ago and it was great! Of course, there's always the Crazy Horse run too.
